Who We Are, What & How We Teach.......

Yoga is the science and art of living your life
                       moment by moment
in a balanced unity of mind, body and spirit.

Since ancient times, Yoga has proven to open, restore, heal our body
and mind through the practices of breath & energy flow, alignment,
meditation, restoration, mantra, and Ayurveda - the Science of Life.

leading by example. Compassion and respect for students and their needs.

~  knows how to teach a progressive course of lessons; does not perform yoga in class,
expecting students to mimic the performance and does not touch a student for the
purpose of assisting their asana, or otherwise - without asking 'may I touch you'?

are your most important considerations, especially if you are a beginner.

Equally important are the principles and lineage of the school and teacher, offering the range
of education - courses, workshops, events - that give to you a well rounded education in yoga.

Viniyoga is one of the oldest and most esteemed lineages of yoga, following the teaching of Sri
T. Krishnamacharya, carried on by Indra Devi, Menaka Desikachar, TKV Desikachar, Kaustaub Desikachar.
Viniyoga, whether you are a beginner or a seasoned teacher, first considers each person's current
health condition, proceeding to teach from this knowledge - either individually, in small student class,
and often in private yoga therapy, referred by a health care professional or consultation with teacher.

Breath is the foundation of ALL yoga AND is the foundation of maintaining a healthy body and mind.
Your Original Breath, that which you were born with, becomes distorted very early in life. Most of
our conditions and disease stem from limited breath to our systems. Breath originates movement;
not the other way around. Removing your distorted breathing patterns is crucial to learning yoga.

How You Learn.......

Most students new to yoga asana (movement) are surprised to discover limitations within their
body - an awareness that is paramount to learning and developing your own safe yoga practice.
Only in our culture did 'styles' of yoga evolve. Many are very rigorous (calisthentics), rigid, static ,
difficult and demanding for a new student, no matter how young or how fit you think you are!

Siince we tend to live in a closed, rigid body with painful shoulders/neck, back and hip conditions...
a yoga practice that opens your body, releasing stressed, tight muscles and cells, is the most
beneficial to your health AND the most FUN & SAFE to learn. Our Yoga Therapist, with 25
years experience
teaches you modifications for pain-free movements while learning yoga.

Students learn in a safe, progressive course of lecture, including demonstration, practice, with
thoughtful, clear direction. Each student moves at their own pace through the lesson and practice;
you leave class knowing the asana, the lesson and practice. Home practice is important, starting
with short asana, breath and meditation practice, building mental and physical confidence and
strength quickly and easily.

The Yoga Within Program has been introduced to Medical Centers and schools. Cardiologists, surgeons, osteopaths, chiropractors, holistic practitioners, physical therapists and RNPs recommend YW courses and private breath / yoga therapy to their patients for its safe healing benefits to every body -
pre / post surgery; invasive therapies; spinal disease and deterioration; heart disease; high / low blood pressure; osteoporosis, arthritis; depressed immune systems; knee injury; IBD, Chrones, Fibromyalgia.

Yoga Within is safe for all stages of pregnancy. A trained, experienced teacher adapts and modifies poses with props, introduces special movement to protect and enhance the health of fetus and mother.
